I finished the book

Today we finished the book me and my partner were reading (Drown). We think the book  was confusing because I used to get lost while reading the book. Sometimes the author got flash backs and sometimes I lose who is speaking. I read in ELA class, at lunch and a little bit at home

Tomorrow we are going to start working on the essay and start brain storming thesis statements that we are going to use when writing our essay.

 If I was going to to write a sequel o my book, the first scene will be Yunior, the main character of the book sitting with his family all together before they got separated, or when his dad left them and moved to the United States. Or may be a scene of him and his dad playing together cut to shot of him saying bye to his dady in the airport.

Where I am so far in the book Drown

The word that describe the book I'm reading is confusing. the reason is that the main character or the author of the book have some flashback about his life in DR. when he in the U.S and that's confuse me and sometimes i got lost. but when me and my partner have a meeting or a discussing about the book i understand much better and  beside that she's been helping with with the Spanish words in the book.

I read when I'm bored. I read in class and during lunch. i don't read at home, because I have other stuff to keep me busy. I am where i suppose to be in the book which mean I am not behind even though my partner is a head of me in the reading. My favorite seen so far is when Yunior and Rafa imaging how their dad would look like when he comes back from the united states. and the way he would greet each one of them Yunior, Rafa, Grandpa, and their mom. The Activities we been doing in class is reading and take notes, and ask questions, basically analyzing the book.

We were on our way to the colmado for an errand, a beer for my tio , when Rafa stood still and titled his head, as if listening to a massage I couldn't hear, something beamed in from afar.

this book is called Drown, bye Junot Dias. it is a collection of short stories about the same character yunior. i have read the first chapter ysreal. this book is about a dominican boy.

I think it is interesting book and it not so long and that's was one of the reasons why i chose to read this book for tis unit.   

1. I have been reading all about self perception starting with the reader and
Sherman Alexie book, The absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian. I really enjoy the

book because it was my first time to learn about Indians. Every thing in the book was
interesting. The book had some sense of humor. While reading the book we had to take few post- it notes that we used for class discussion. Then we did an essay about self perception. I'm doing great in this class and it is my first time to love ela class.

2. This class is indeed connect to we do in media literacy class with Mr. Justice. For Example in ELA class we did an essay about self perception and in media literacy we had to do a slide show of self perception and we are going to use part of the essay to read as the narration for our slide show. SO they are pretty much connected.

Today I started reading a new book called "Persepolis" it is a comic book. It is a good book. My favorite part so far is when they had to wear the hijab or the veil

where some of them were with good with it and others who think it is against their freedom.

and also when the man character wanted to be the new prophet. We also where discussing some sonnet poems and now we have to come up with our own sonnet poems that present on of the

problems we faced in our life. I got to say it I am not good with poem so this next unit is

going to be a little bit challenging.

An activity we did in class this week

We had a little discussion in class about the book" The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" and as group we came up with these.

What is it about this book that is funny?

-The way that he writes

-He has no limitation to the things he jokes about [Masturbation]

-He can turn sad moments into funny ones [When his grandma died]

Made you think.

-When his father’s friend died. Why do people drink and kill

-When he was talking about him being poor and how bad life is on the res.

-How drunk driving is such a problem

What about the book you're reading now

This book is getting more and more interesting. I'm up to when junior left the reservation and went to white people high school (Readan). To the moment where that big fat boy named Roger walked up to him in a way of insulting or fighting and definitely not to be a friend with Junior. My favorite scene so far is when he was talking about Mr P, when he said"let me repeat that: MR. P SOMETIMES FORGET TO COME TO SCHOOL!.'' I only have been reading at school. Mostly in ElA class and Media Litercy class

I'm to lazy to read at home. I will finish this book by this monday.

Hey we have a new book

The new book is rock. It is so interesting and has a lot of humor in it. Mr. O assigned us to read 10 pages a day, but I may do 3o pages a day or more. the saddest moment I read so far is when Junior's dad shot the dog because they didn't have the money to take Oscar to the Doctor. At was reading the book " Girl from foreign country" It was somehow interesting and I can relate to it. By now I am so excited to read " The Absolutely True Dairy of a Part- Time Indian", the first two chapter were good. The funny part was when junior was describing how many teeth he has."First of all, I end up having forty-two teeth. The typical human has thirty-two, right? But I had forty- two.

Ten more than usual.

life at TGS!

I'm still reading the book Arabian nights. It is an unexpurgated book. the book is too long so stopped reading it and I went back to my old book that called,"The Girl From Foreign" which is about a girl who is looking for the history of her ancestors. Her mom was a Muslim and her dad was a Christian. later she found that her grandma whom she loved was a Jews. So she went to India to study there and at the same time to learn more about her grandma.

        The school is going good so far and  a month had passed without feeling it. I hope this year goes really fast and easy and we be close from graduation. My life in school is so sweet. I like the people in this school. The work is so easy and the teachers are so nice. They make the work enjoyable. 

        We had been doing the same work for MR. O's class and MR. Justice, and for Mr. K as well because he was talking yesterday about self perception as well. How do you see yourself?, how does the word sees you?and why does it matter?. This unit was cool.  

This weekend I read a book called the Arabian Nights it is all fairy tales from the past. I love fairy tales and that's why I chose to read this book. My favorite scene is when the three shiehk asked the jinee to give him a story of what had happened to them to save their friend of the jinee who wants to kill that man because he killed his son without knowing or seeing the jinee's son. So the first shiehk went to the jinee and told him if I tell you my story and if you like it you give me third of that man's blood so the jinee agreed and so did the other two men. 

Race, school and family have some effect on self perception. people always want you to be the way they want you to be. Many people judge you the look so they see different, but after they get to know they start to change their mind about you. I really don't care about that as long as I know myself well. I always like to prove people wrong and make them have a little reflection upon themselves.
