The art project

We have been doing some researches in class to collect enough information about our topic global warming, and how our activities effect the environment. Each one of our group members had to choose one question to answer and we gather the answers and put them in one piece and type it as our project proposal.   

Ghost bike

Yesterday we took a trip to watch a piece of art that were located between Union ave and Ten Eyck street. this art was about a person who died of a truck. the painted a bike with white and they covered most of it with flower and roses. they had a picture of the guy i forgot his name taped to a pole above the bike and some candles. the bike was kind of scary and i felt so bad for the people who have been victims for cars and trucks. the ghost art installation is very emotional and have a strong massage to the people to be careful and watch where they go and slowing down can save many lives   

We also have to make our own art. I have not thought of the art I am going to do. I just want to agree with my group about the topic they want to write or make the art  about. my top three choices are drug and alcohol abuse, the Palestinian/ Israeli crisis and homelessness.

My overall thought about the project: I feel confident about this project and i think it's going to be fun because i like art and it's a group project so i won't be there alone standing in the street talking to people about my art.  

Reviving my beautiful blog

It has  been long time since that last time I shared with you some of the wonderful thing we have been doing in school. tomorrow we are going to present our creative project. My project is about six poem about the part of me being yemeni and how much I missed my beautiful country. It is the least thing I can do. there was so many options to choose from like painting, cooking, singing, dancing, designing and other creative things that you can come up with. I wanted to do designing but I didn't have materials. I always love designing. one time I made a dress for  barbie doll when I was young. I wanted to make real designing. I hope one day I make the perfect dress that I always dream of. I am going to purchase a sewing machine and start with easy stuff till I get the hand of it. so I am not so excited about presenting my project to anyone. Why can't we do it the way we wanted to do it why do we have to present?

Antigone = Antege

We are done with the play Antigone. Now we are starting our new project based on this play. We have to modernize it, choose a different period of time and different place. Mine is going to be in the year 2003, when the war in Iraq started it. Antigone will be Antege, Creon will be the military commander carlos. Antigone's brother will be one of the soldiers and chorus will be charlie. The soldiers will gather a several suspected civilians and the commander will order the soldiers to shoot the civilains. Then that soldier wh plays Antigone's brother will refuse to take his gone and shoot Instead he aimed at the commander ordering him to stop. then another soldier come from behind him and shoot him. So then Antigone refuses to leave with the other soldiers she stayed next to him and she want to the commander asking him to send his body to his family but he refuses, so she starts to break the roles and disrespect the commander so he puts her in prison.

Decision and consequences

                         

                                 "Tough decisions usually have big consequences"

I agree with this statement tough decision have big consequences. Every step you make in your life has either a positive or negative consequences behind it. For example the play were reading in class Antigone. It's about that girl who decided to bury her brother and breaking the king's law that say anyone who bury this traitor will die. So she decide to break that law and accept the consequences for what she did. she chose to do that because she didn't want to leave her brother unburied for the bird and dogs to flesh him. she was brave, strong and fearless even when they caught her burying him she confessed right away.

For my life I had not made  so many decisions that I regret. this when happen in almost every culminating unit project. when I finish doing the writing part I don't revise it. I feel mad tired and bored to do that last step. the consequence is that I never got a 4 for spelling and grammar and that's affect my grade for being lazy to do that last step and I feel mad bad.

 

I finished the book

Today we finished the book me and my partner were reading (Drown). We think the book  was confusing because I used to get lost while reading the book. Sometimes the author got flash backs and sometimes I lose who is speaking. I read in ELA class, at lunch and a little bit at home

Tomorrow we are going to start working on the essay and start brain storming thesis statements that we are going to use when writing our essay.

 If I was going to to write a sequel o my book, the first scene will be Yunior, the main character of the book sitting with his family all together before they got separated, or when his dad left them and moved to the United States. Or may be a scene of him and his dad playing together cut to shot of him saying bye to his dady in the airport.

Where I am so far in the book Drown

The word that describe the book I'm reading is confusing. the reason is that the main character or the author of the book have some flashback about his life in DR. when he in the U.S and that's confuse me and sometimes i got lost. but when me and my partner have a meeting or a discussing about the book i understand much better and  beside that she's been helping with with the Spanish words in the book.

I read when I'm bored. I read in class and during lunch. i don't read at home, because I have other stuff to keep me busy. I am where i suppose to be in the book which mean I am not behind even though my partner is a head of me in the reading. My favorite seen so far is when Yunior and Rafa imaging how their dad would look like when he comes back from the united states. and the way he would greet each one of them Yunior, Rafa, Grandpa, and their mom. The Activities we been doing in class is reading and take notes, and ask questions, basically analyzing the book.
